This past month several people have offered

• to help me with writing my sponsorship letter
• to send the letter to potential sponsors
• to help with my presentation for the Blogging While Brown conference

And none of these people have followed through. Am I disappointed? Yes. Did it affect me greatly? No.  In fact, the whole experience has taught me a few lessons.

1. You know who you can depend on in times of need
2. Don’t turn down help if offered, but really access the credibility of the person offering and question their time and availability to assist
3. People that you think have clout really don’t
4. People you think will help you, won’t
5. No one is going to look out for you like you will so you better do what you need to do for you or else you’ll be SOL
6. Don’t be like those people

The experience wasn’t all bad. There were a few people who offered to help and they came through. And I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart.

However, to the people who offered to help and don’t follow through: It’s really OK if you cannot do it. For me personally, it would be better if you don’t offer at all than to offer and not help.

I am so tired of hearing people say, “Don’t you wish you had created Facebook?” or “I’m going to create the next Facebook.” Well, I have one thing to say to all of those people: you could have done it first. Everything you see started in the mind. If there is anything you think is needed, guess what? You can create it.  And, FB started out as a way to connect with college alumni and became a worldwide phenomena.  Your creation and be the same.

All you have to do is dream it, work it and have faith that something WILL happen.

Why did my friend claim to give up Facebook (FB) for Lent and she uploads images from a remote location quite frequently? So, in my view, she is not really giving up Facebook. She’s just not socializing on Facebook.  Each time I send her a message through FB, she responds via text or e-mail.

Of course, I wouldn’t dare have this conversation online, but if by chance she comes across this message: Girlfriend, I love you, but giving something up means to give it up completely. Having no interaction at all. Or, giving it up part-time.  But the key is to having self-control with it.

That’s all I wanted to say. Do you think uploading images to FB is part of fasting?

WHY? WHY? WHY?

1. Why do I care when you clearly could care less?
2. Why do you want me to make your priorities my priorities EVEN though the situation could have been addressed?
3. Why do I always have to be the bigger person when confronted by stupid ass people?
4. Why can’t I just say what I want to say like the FOX News people and call it journalism or freedom of speech?
5. Why can’t I get paid like the FOX News people? There would be clear points to my messages.
6. Why do I care about keeping in touch with people? And, I make phone calls!
7. Why can’t we all just get along? Life’s too short for dumb stuff.

I think I need to start a blog where I can gripe about stuff that bugs me anonymously.  That way, people I know won’t really know that I’m talking about them and I cannot offend people I am trying to serve in my business.  Why do things have to be so complex??

Anyway, I’m trying to come up with a nifty name for a new blog. Like I need another blog. I already have 6 of them, 3 of which are updated weekly.  Yes, I have a blogging addiction.  And, I’m so glad that blogs are available for FREE so I can just share my thought.  I don’t care if this blog is read, though.  It’s just going to be one big ranting blog with the sole purpose of me getting stuff off my chest.  I will say what I want to say; how I want to say it and when.

Let me hurry up and start that blog.

People mistake tears for weakness.  Sometimes you have to have a big, hearty cry for emotional and spiritual cleansing.  It’s OK to breakdown, have a fit and release all your frustrations as long as the pity party ends.  And when it’s over, you will  either be heavy or walking on air because the weight has been lifted.

If someone gives you compliment but adds a sarcastic negative remark, is it still a compliment?

I was told that I would reach my goal – it may take awhile – but I’ll get there.  Was that extra stuff really necessary?

Anyway, this person called himself being positive and encouraging, but there was always a condescending remark thrown in with almost every statement.  That really messed up the moment.

So, I have to wonder: if someone gives you a compliment but adds a sarcastic negative remark, is it still a compliment?

That is much easier said than done.  When you used to have a cashflow and you’re lucky if you get a drip, worry kicks in.  When your wardrobe fights you and appears to be winning; yep, you’re going to worry.  When everything that could go wrong actually goes wrong, stress becomes your best friend. But through it all, look at everything is going right.  You woke up; you’re breathing; and you’re in your right mind is enough to get you started.

Even though you shouldn’t look at other what other people are doing, take a look at what they HAVE to do compare to what you HAVE to do.  When you realize you don’t have to work as hard to do what you want or need to do, can you really be mad? When all of your bills are paid and your bank account is close to “E”, is there room for complaining.  And, just knowing that God’s got your back no matter where you are in life….

I said all of that to say, as you look around and think you got it bad because things in your life have dwindled, just know that there is someone else worse off than you.

While completing my census form on yesterday, the option for chocolate people were Black, African American or Negro.  WTF? Negro?  The only option missing was “colored.”  I tell you.  The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Today I was reading Brainwashed by Tom Burrell, and there was an image of a sign that read, “Negro for Sale.”  I don’t know if that was irony, but it messed me up for about 15 minutes.

I am a journalist for How They Living Ain’t No Joke, the baby of George and Peytyn Willborn.  Quite exciting.

Also, I am editing True Elegance Magazine.  OK, I only did two stories.  Just know that the ones that are grammatically correct and easy to read are mine.

I contributed to our church’s history book by interviewing my subject.  I did not write or edit, but I gathered great information.

Now, let me work on my book.  This is high on my list of things to do this week.  Really.
