I went to a networking event on Tuesday and the DJ was playing really good house music. I couldn’t stop dancing.  A young lady told me that I need to get out more. While that’s probably true, what I really need is a consistent cash flow so I can dance on an island with a pina colada.  I need a consistent cash flow so I pay off my credit card and my mortgage so I won’t have to do that monthly. I need my money to start making money for me so I live my ideal life which entails fitness, teaching people in my writing school, learning and being creative.  Oh, and traveling.

So, to the young lady who feels that I should get out more, I have a couple word.s First, unless you are paying, that’s not your concern.  Second, if you really want to help me, send clients that are willing and able to pay my way.

Everyone has opinions.  Which is cool.  I’m open to learning.  But when I’m so close  to my goal and you try to inject your opinion into what I should do, I have a problem.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m so open to learning that people should be paying me to educate me (I’m such a scholar).  In fact, I have gotten great advice over the year from people who genuinely care about me.  But, as I try to implement and complete these suggestions, I am suffering from an overload. Gosh! I just want to scream!!  And you have those people who try to force their opinion on you.  That doesn’t work because it does not create conversations; it builds walls.

As of yesterday, I am officially done.  I will be open to listening effective January 1, 2011.

Yeah, I know I’ve been neglecting my site.  It is not intentional.  I have bee working on laying the foundation for The Write Design Company and working to make Shorty: Your Chicago South Side Resource relevant.  This is no joke, but very necessary.  I have to work on making my dreams come true; otherwise, I will be out of line with my passions and purpose.

I intend to do better in the near future. I have been struggling with a couple things.  First, I still cannot say what I want to say on my blogs because the freedom of speech really isn’t free, and I cannot afford to lose clients because of my personal opinions.  Secondly, I don’t want to offend close friends and colleagues.  But, I figure if I could tell good stories and change the names of the characters in the situations, I might be OK.  I don’t think many of my people read this blog anyway.  Heck, I know they don’t read it as much as I think they should, but they do stop through.

Anyway, I just wanted to report that I’m going to do better moving forward.  Have a wonderfully blessed and safe holiday!

I am having the hardest time getting my book published from Blogapalooza.  There is always some technical glitch.  If I just knew I wasn’t close to where God would have me to be, I would probably freak out.  As it is, I’m just patiently working on other projects as I move closer to my goal.  My book will be published and I will have “author” on my name by the end of October.

I’m looking forward to BlogWorld Expo in October.  The event is from October 14 – 16, 2010.

And, that’s all I have for now.  I’ll let you know what happens.

I picked up a friend yesterday who was experiencing car troubles.  While driving home, he said that he was almost finished paying off two car notes, which I thought was a great blessing.  He then said, “I might buy that truck I want.”  I wanted to come to a screeching halt like Fred Flinstone and Barney Rubble on The Flinstones.  Dude, are you serious???

You are about to be free – a little (there is still insurance and repairs) – and you would seriously entertain a new vehicle?  That wasn’t the kicker.

Not to put his business in the street…ok, yes I am.  He has three cars and live in an apartment with his family.   Two of his children are almost teens.  They need their own space.  Then, he said that he was suspended for a few days without pay and that set you back.  WTF are you thinking????  You need a new car like you need a hole in your head.  And, your wife is OK with this?

My friend is an example of the billion dollar black consumer that don’t own anything.  Definitely NOT how I’m going to be.

I was having a conflict about what to charge for my blogging service.  Initially, I was setting my rates according to other people’s opinions about the economy.  That was not good.  I was going to charge at least $25 per hour less than what I really wanted to get paid.

Fortunately,  I met with Lester McCarroll of the McCarroll Group and Ed Lighthall today.  They pretty much told me to price for myself and then target the companies that will pay.  That was great.  That is exactly what I needed at this time.

I can honestly say that my lack of pricing is the main reason why I have not promoted The Write Design Company as hard as I could have.  Also, I have to finish writing my service plan.  I need to know who my audience is and how much to charge them. I am almost there.

I told my little sister I would stop cursing, but I really don’t want to right now. But I will. I have to be a positive role model. And, if I hear her cursing I am almost certain I will be on channels 2,5,7,9 and FOX because old school traditions will kick in. So, to save her life and mine (I’m too cool to go to jail), I’m going to stop. Even when I think about those flipping parking meters!

After that conversation, I’m finding it very easy to say what I need to say to other people.  Not that it is disrespectful; it’s just more forthcoming.  I feel freer.  And, in order for me to be my happiest, I have to say what’s on my mind.  I just have to work on tact.  Pray for me.

As of August 1, 2010, my new professional nickname is “Billion Dollar Blogger.”  This will be done through setting up and managing blogs, coaching and training.

My event casting service will also contribute to my billion dollar status.  I will integrate blogging, live blogging, and social media and multimedia tools to make it all happen.  I’ll get to that after I get my blogging services going the way I want them to.

Beneath all my blogging excitement, I am still a journalist and creative soul.

I hate when people argue with me about things I know that are absolutely true.

I hate when people tell me things about me even though they have not a clue about me or what I do.

I hate the parking meters in Chicago.

I hate the low status of black people in America even though the prosperity of this country was built on the back of our ancestors.

I hate how black women in America are treated even though they were the only women able to birth slaves, the same people that helped America get rich.

I hate having to be the bigger person, especially when it’s not my fault.

I hate not having my first million at age 30 because of my fear and excuses.

I think that’s all I hate for now.
